About HDPE

What is HDPE?

HDPE is a high-density polyethylene with a regular molecular structure – it is short for High Density Polyethylene.

HDPE is considered, next to plastics marked as 05, the safest for health – many toys for children are made of it. It is not as popular as PET, but more and more often food products, medicines and dietary supplements are packed in it.

HDPE properties

HDPE exhibits high resistance to stress cracking and impact. HDPE is also resistant to moisture, chemicals and exhibits a relatively low level of stiffness. It is characterized by high durability at low temperatures, even down to -40°C , which allows it to be used in the food industry – e.g. in cold stores. This material is also very resistant to temperature changes, which is why it is used to store food in it.

HDPE is one of the safest artificial materials for human health.

HDPE and our health

HDPE makes it possible to package and store food products without negative effects on human health . Seeing the HDPE symbol on the packaging, we can be sure that storing food in it will not have a negative impact on our health.

Compounds and hormones contained in HDPE do not migrate to the product as is the case with PET.
